From September 1st our Wednesday evening shoots will move back to a 6pm start (5:30pm assembly). With daylight starting to fade during our Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 6pm shoots we’re giving the following guidelines/options in order for everyone to be able to finish their shoots while they can still see the target…
First, archers can opt to shoot Warwick (4 dozen) rounds or 6 dozen rounds on all Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday shoots. This allows those present to vary the rounds to be shot to take into account attendance and weather. Light will fade faster on overcast evenings. Note this may mean that those shooting a Warwick round will be finished while those shooting Nationals, Metrics or WA rounds still have two dozen to shoot. In this case can those taking down the Warwick targets do so promptly.
Secondly, we ask all archers to shoot all 6 arrows in one go (metric-style) rather than 3 and 3, for both imperial and metric rounds. This speeds up shooting a little.
Thirdly, we ask all archers to be sensible in where possible shoot in single detail, with up to 3 archers per boss. This is more important for compound or recurve archers as longbow and barebow archers tend to shoot a lot quicker anyway…
And lastly we ask all archers to spend minimal time looking for missed arrows between ends – if you can’t find it in 2 minutes or so try to find it after the shoot finishes.
Following these guidelines presents the best chance of everyone enjoying their last month of outdoor shooting…
