On Sunday June 24th our club will host the annual BCAA “Presidents & Pairs” shoot at our field. This is an informal shoot organised on behalf of the Bedfordshire County Archery Association, of which St. Neots Bowmen is a member. The round shot is a Western round (4 dozen arrows at 60yds followed by 4 dozen arrows at 50yds) – with shorter distances for juniors or novice archers who can’t reach 60yds. The main “pair” awards are decided on handicap-adjusted scores, so novice archers have a good chance of doing well!

For the “pairs” part of the competition awards are based on the added, handicap adjusted scores of pairs of archers – archers indicate their pairings before the shoot starts. It usually works quite well to have a novice and an experienced archer to team up. Note that as the scores are handicap-adjusted pairs don’t have to shoot the same bow style; they can be mixed.

The “Presidents” awards are made on the added raw scores of teams of 3 archers of one club shooting the same bow style.

Last year the shoot was hosted by Dunstable archers, and St. Neots was represented with a 9-strong delegation. We managed to win the recurve team award and the compound pair award, so we have something to defend.

Please indicate your interest to participate at this shoot to Marc Bax or Sunil Kalra. Note that this shoot will have assembly at 10:30am so it starts a little later than our normal Sunday rounds.
