Getting Back to Archery March 2021

by | Mar 27, 2021

We are pleased to confirm that following the guidance provided by AGB, we have opened our outdoor range for shooting, for individual practice and for five club shoots every week – on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

For all shooting activity you MUST book in via the online Booking System before you shoot (go to www.stneotsbowmen.club and select Range Bookings).

Bookings will be available 5 days in advance. Please book respectfully to ensure all club members have the opportunity to shoot.

The guidance for our organised club shoots is different to the guidance for individual range shooting, so please pay particular attention to each section below to help us ensure that we stay safe and within the guidelines as we shoot.

INDIVIDUAL OUTDOOR SHOOTS (NON-CLUB SESSIONS)
  • The booking system will provide 2-hour slots between 6am and 8pm Monday – Sunday, excluding:
    • Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays after 6pm
    • Thursday 2pm onwards
    • Saturday 2pm – 6pm
    • Sunday 10am – 2pm
    • Please ensure you arrive and complete your shooting during your 2-hour slot.
    • 5 bosses (1,3,5,7 & 9) are available to book during the individual shooting hours. Bosses must be placed only in these lanes to ensure appropriate distancing.
    • Two persons from different households can share one boss, provided they practice appropriate social distancing.
    • You may co-ordinate with other archers if you wish to shoot socially, but ensure that no more than 10 archers are on the field at once.
    • Bosses in lanes 1, 3 and 5 will not be at fixed distances for the 2021 season – you need to book a Boss number, but you can choose what distance you wish to shoot at.
    • Bosses in lanes 7 and 9 should be left out at the distances they are set at and not changed.
    • Bosses will be stored in the hut, and you will need to set them up and take them down within the session that you have booked.
    • It is preferred you use your own target pins and faces
    • The hut and the toilet are open. One person in the hut at a time please.
    • 2m social distancing must be maintained at all times if others are shooting at the same time as you.
    • Hand sanitizer will be available. Remember to sanitize your hands after entering/exiting the hut or touching club facilities or equipment.
    • Face coverings are optional for outdoor shooting.
    • There will be no club equipment available at the field.
    • Spectators are not permitted.
CLUB SHOOTS

We are re-introducing club shoots at the following times:

  • Tuesdays , Wednesdays and Fridays from 6pm (shooting to start @6:30)
  • Saturday 2pm – 6pm (shooting to start @ 2:30)
  • Sunday 10am – 2pm (shooting to start @ 10:30)

During club shoots:

  • Spaces are available for a maximum of 10 archers per shoot, across 5 bosses: bosses 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9.
  • In the booking system, you will not be required to select a specific boss. Instead, book into the ‘Club Shoot’ session, taking one of the 10 spaces available.
  • Up to 2 people are able to shoot per boss (using double details so one person is shooting at a time).
  • If you are sharing a boss with someone who is in the same household or bubble, you may shoot concurrently.
  • Once you arrive at a session, you can share a boss and agree a round with another archer. Rounds of no more than 6 dozen must be selected.
  • Scores can be submitted during club shoots.
  • Score sheets are available from the hut. Each archer must complete their own score sheet. Please bring your own pen. Cross signing is not required.
  • Please ensure you arrive at the beginning of the club shoot to set up your boss.
  • Rounds must be complete by the end of the session, and bosses packed away.
  • Target faces and pins will be available for various rounds in the hut – please collect a target face and pins for the round you wish to shoot and reuse these each time you wish to shoot that round. Please also take these home with you between sessions.
  • The hut and the toilet are available to access, but only one person may be inside at a time.
  • 2m social distancing must be maintained at all times and archers must pull their own arrows one at a time.
  • There will be no club equipment available at the field.
  • Spectators are not permitted.
  • Face coverings are optional for outdoor shooting.
  • A field captain must be appointed during club shoots. If you are appointed field captain, please try to ensure the guidance provided here is being followed along with normal shooting etiquette.
INDOORS

AGB have granted special dispensation for disabled archers who have completed the “self-declaration disability exemption form” to shoot at indoor facilities. As such, Alconbury will available ONLY to those archers who have provided this form to AGB.

If you hold this exemption form and wish to shoot at Alconbury, please follow these guidelines:

  • You MUST book to shoot indoors via the online booking system.
  • All members must wear face coverings except when actively shooting, unless exempt.
  • Use sanitizer on entry and exit (there is a dispenser located just inside the door to help).
  • Please bring you own pen for completing logs etc.
  • Each boss has a dedicated table for you to use for your equipment; use the antibacterial spray and paper towel provided to wipe down before and after you shoot. Paper towels are to be put in the bin placed under each table, DO NOT use these bins for general rubbish.
  • Bosses have been placed at 20yds from the shooting line, DO NOT move the bosses.
  • Target faces and pins are available in the hangar. Please retain your target face, bring it each time you shoot and take it home with you between sessions.

For all ranges, please remember:

  • Archers and Members MUST NOT come to ANY range if they show symptoms of any illness, in particular COVID-19.
  • Archers and other Members must notify the club should they develop COVID-19 symptoms after attending the archery range.
  • For those that have downloaded the NHS COVID-19 app you can scan the QR code on arrival, which is located on the posters displayed in both ranges.

Above all, take care, stay safe and enjoy shooting!
