Netherhall Archers Friendly Portsmouth Competition

Session time is 10:00 – 13:00 (arrive from 9.30) at Netherhall School Sports Centre, Queen Edith’s Way, Cambridge CB1 8NN

2023 Taster Sessions and Beginners Courses
Are you interested in trying archery this year?
Join us for a taster session to give it a try, or jump straight into a Beginner’s Course and start your archery journey.
We have the following sessions confirmed for the first part of our outdoor season:
Taster Sessions: 25th March 2023
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
13:00 pm – 15:00 pm
Price: £10 per person
We will supply all the archery equipment including bows and arrows. All you need to bring is closed footwear (we can’t allow you to shoot in flip-flops, sandals or other shoes with open toes), suitable clothing (no bulky jackets and or any sweaters that can catch on the string), good spirits and some small change: These sessions are payable on the day – no need to book.
Beginner’s Courses: 22nd April 2023 and 13th May 2023
09:00 am – 17:00 pm
These are one-day courses, after which you will be eligible to shoot at any archery club you wish to join (we hope you pick us!). We supply all the equipment you will need, but you must book a place on these courses so we can adequately prepare for you.
Price £60 per person
Children are welcome over 8 years of age and children under 15 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

Our new indoor shooting range
We’ve moved to Grafham Water: Shoots begin Sunday 8th January
Shooting begins at our new indoor range at Grafham Water from Sunday 8th January 2023. The address is:

Perry, Huntingdon
Cambridgeshire
PE28 0GW.
To get to Grafham Water centre, make sure you come into the village of Perry, following signs t Grafham Water. Opposite the Wheatsheaf pub, take the turning for Chichester Way. Take the next right to Ridgeway and continue to the bottom of the road. Drive through the white gates and turn right to the Centre.
Session times are as follows:
Sunday (8th Jan onwards)
Arrive 10.00 for 10.30 sighters.
Session ends at 13.00
Monday (9th Jan onwards)
Arrive 6pm for 6.30 sighters.
Session ends at 9pm
Remember, we still have full 24/7 access to the field at Offord D’Arcy!
We have also added a new outdoor club shoot: A frostbite
Saturday (7th Jan onwards)
Arrive 9.30 for a 10am start
We know this is a change, and thank you for bearing with us while we do our very best to keep shooting during this transition.
Beginner’s Course 17th September
St Neots Bowmen will be holding our last Beginner’s Course for 2022 on Saturday 17th September.
Our one-day courses run between 09:30 – 17:00 at our outdoor range in Offord D’Arcy. See here for the location of the field.
Attendance is £60 per person and upon completion of the course, you’ll gain a certificate enabling you to join St Neots Bowmen or any other AGB registered club.
Couples, families (children 8 years and up) and small groups are welcome.

Club Champs and Social now 21st August 2022
The club champs have been reorganised for 21st August 2022. We’ll be shooting a Windsor and at lunchtime we’ll be holding a social on the field with some food.
So even if you can’t make the champs, we hope you’ll join us for a bite to eat.
With the weather being so hot, and the Government advice to avoid fires, rather than firing up BBQ, we’ll be setting up a picnic – please feel free to bring your signature dish!
The club champs will kick off at the usual Sunday shoot start time, and if you’d like to join us for lunch, aim to arrive from noon.

Beginners’ course 17/9/22
We are organising the last beginners course of the 2022 outdoor season on Saturday September 17th. This is a one-day course (9:30 – 16:30) in which you are tought archery basics that allow you to join an archery club and shoot alongside others. For more information visit our try-archery page.
Club social (BBQ & Indoor Awards) – Sunday 24th April
Hi everyone,
This Sunday we’d like to take the opportunity to welcome everyone to a social event after the club shoot at the outdoor range.
We’ll start at noon, directly after the club shoot and we’ll do a BBQ and provide some drinks. Don’t worry – attending the club shoot is not mandatory, so feel free just to pop down to the field for an afternoon catch up with like minded individuals.

We’ll also be taking this opportunity to hand out club awards for the indoor season. I’m really looking forward to seeing you there!

Scorton silver arrow 2022
On Saturday May 21st the oldest archery tournament in the world – first held in 1673- will hold its 313th meeting. The “antient Scorton silver arrow” sees competitors (gentlemen aged 21 or over) compete for the silver arrow – plus the honour/duty of organising next year’s edition. The tournament is always held in Yorkshire, and this year the venue of choice is at Harrogate RUFC.
Shooting is done two-ways, shooting two-arrow ends over a distance of about 105 yards (100 yards between the shooting lines). No compounds allowed, most archers shoot longbows but recurves (with or without sight) are also permitted.
There is no set number of arrows. After the bugle is sounded to start the shoot at 10:30 there is two hours of shooting, followed by a leisurely three-course meal. Then another two hours of shooting followed by afternoon tea.

OnTarget competition
The club will be once again taking part in the OnTarget competition, this is a competition shot @50m
comprising mixed age categories, gender and bow styles. Sunil is going to register teams with
